Supply, Installation and Commissioning Projects

The Client awarded PDI the contract to supply, install and commission a Black Start Facility at their large coal fired power station in Australasia.

The Plant comprises a dual fuel, 40MW Heavy Duty Industrial Gas Turbine, operating in Open Cycle mode. The Plant is also equipped with an Evaporative Cooler to boost performance when site conditions suit, and a Water Injection Unit to reduce NOx emissions.

The refurbished Gas Turbine was completely overhauled and upgraded using new parts and the Sentinel C PLC control system in Dubai by our related company MJB International, prior to being shipped to the site.

To meet the very demanding electrical starting duty imposed by the main power station boiler auxiliaries under black conditions, a new large capacity Brush Generator was also supplied by PDI as part of this contract.

Following commissioning of the Plant, a successful black start of the power station was carried out and witnessed by station staff and the electricity supply authority.

PDI continue to provide operational and supervisory support to the client.

The Gas Turbine was supplied from PDI’s inventory of Gas Turbines and PDI also coordinated the sourcing and shipment of the complete plant (including Generator and Balance of Plant) to Australasia from Dubai, United Kingdom and China.

PDI were contracted by the Client to supply two Heavy Duty Industrial Gas Turbine Generators, destined for installation in the Caribbean.

PDI were also responsible for the provision of technical supervisory staff to oversee and assist with the installation and commissioning of the units, with the work being carried out by client personnel from their operational sites.

One of the two Generators, at the recommendation of PDI, was given a complete stator rewind in Dubai prior to being shipped to site.

The Power Plant was commissioned and has entered into commercial operation.

The units were supplied from PDI’s inventory of Gas Turbine Generators.
